New Truist Bank commits $60 billion The National Community Reinvestment Coalition has exciting news today: Truist Bank has agreed to a community benefits agreement that dedicates $60 billion in funding and support lower-income communities!
Chattanooga Organized for Action participated in a coalition meeting between NCRC and bank leaders in Atlanta in April of this year. It is wonderful to see the increasing number of Tennessee organizations participating with NCRC in efforts to secure enforceable commitments from major banks. The BB&T/ Suntrust merger will make the new Truist Bank the 6th largest bank in the country. Dedicated commitments to investment for low-income applicants and communities is a strong first step towards more equitable lending. The plan’s specific goals include:
